SUDAN: Too Little For Too Few - Meeting the needs of youth in Darfur

The Women’s Commission for Refugee Women and Children’s latest report, "Too Little for Too Few: Meeting the needs of youth in Darfur," looks at the educational and skills training opportunities available to displaced youth in Darfur.

Almost six years into the current conflict in Darfur, there are very few educational and skills-building opportunities to meet the needs of a large and growing population of young people. The few programmes that do exist are able to serve only a very small number of youth. With approximately 1.2 million young people in Darfur, a more coordinated and comprehensive approach to meeting their needs is urgently required.

"Too Little for Too Few" looks at existing educational services targeting youth and examines some of the challenges programs face, such as the selection of beneficiaries and course offerings, follow-up support to graduates, female participation and coordination of youth issues within the humanitarian system.

The report provides recommendations on how the Government of Sudan, donors, policymakers and field practitioners can more effectively support displaced youth in Darfur.
