Philippines: Trafficking of Children and Women for Commercial Sexual Exploitation


The documentation on Philippine Conference Against Trafficking Of Children And Women In Commercial Sexual Exploitation, which took place on 10 and 11. February 2005 in Cebu City, Philippines, is now available.

During the conference the causes of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking of women and children in the Philippines were examined and discussed in detail. Particular emphasis was laid on the introduction of Best-Practice-Examples of NGOs and Governmental Organisations. During workshops concrete strategies and plans of action for the partner organisations in the different provinces of the Philippines were drafted. The "Cebu Declaration of Mutual Cooperation Against Trafficking“ - an outcome of the conference - calls upon politicians, public authorities and the Philippine society to act.

More than 120 representatives from Governmental and Nongovernmental Organisations as well as high-ranking Filipino politicians and  international organisations participated in the conference. Prior to the conference some of the guests used the chance had the opportunity to discuss the problems with some of the women and children affected. The conference was organised by Karl Kuebel Stiftung, European Union and other Filipino Non-Governmental-Organisations (NGOs).
