PHILIPPINES: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in Philippines that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

Seated within the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines (CHRP), the Child Rights Centre functions as an Ombudsperson in the country and has a mandate to receive complaints from children. The Committee on the Rights of the Child has expressed concern, however, that the Centre does not have sufficient human and financial resources, nor an adequate legal basis to carry out these activities. The Committee has recommended that the State address these concerns, and also support the prompt passage of the CHRP Charter "to strengthen the protection and promotion of children's rights".
