Children's Ombudsperson

The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) was established in Jordan by a temporary law in 2002, and placed on a permanent legal basis in 2006. The NCHR has a mandate that includes promoting and monitoring the implementation of the rights of the child, and the power to receive individual complaints from children, though the Centre's powers are limited with regards to the police and military. In its 2006 Concluding Observations, the Committee urged the State to expand this mechanism to fully include all agencies of government within its ambit.
