HIV AND AIDS: Tourism and HIV/AIDS

International tourism and its consistently growing infrastructure has, alongside other factors, contributed to the flourishing business of sex tourism. The sex trade has the potential to contribute to the transmission of HIV and AIDS and to the spread of other STD too. Myths and lack of awareness of the problem as well as social stigma present common challenges for the prevention of HIV and AIDS. Socially acceptable working conditions and adequate salaries in the tourism sector can however assist workers to live a decent life instead of generating additional income through prostitution.Owner: GTZpdf: http://www.gtz.de/de/dokumente/en-infosheet-tourism-hivaids-2007.pdf
