GEORGIA: Analysis of the juvenile system in Georgia

The Government of Georgia presented their second report on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 2003. In its Concluding Observations to the report, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child recommended that the Government seek technical assistance in the area of juvenile justice from Unicef.

This analysis, prepared by Unicef at the request of the government, examines the extent to which the current legislation and practice relating to children in conflict with the law is consistent with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Minimum Standards and Norms of Juvenile Justice and current notions of good practice in juvenile justice.
