Children's Ombudsperson

Under the Office of the Procurator for the Protection of Human Rights Act 1992, a Deputy Procurator for the protection of Children and Youth fulfils the role of an ombudsman with regards to Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Committee against Torture raised concerns in November 2009, however, that the the Procurator's Office had suffered threats aimed at interfering in its work and undermining its independence.
