Children's Ombudsperson

The Office of the Ombudsperson (Defensoria del Pueblo) and that of the Assistant Ombudsperson for Children and Youth (Defonsoria Adjunto para law Niñez y la Juventud) were established in 2001, but as of the State's 2007 report to the Committee on the Rights of the Child, neither position had been filled. The Committee recommended that the State make appointments to these positions as soon as possible and take measures to ensure that their operation is in full conformity with the Paris Principles.
