CHINA: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in China that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

While noting that many ministries can receive complaints, the Committee on the Rights of the Child has expressed concern that there is no independent national human rights institution in China with a clear mandate to monitor the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Committee recommended that the State introduce an independent child rights body with a mandate to receive and investigate individual complaints.
