Children's Work in Cambodia: A challenge for growth and poverty reduction

The report on children's work in Cambodia provides an overview of the child labor phenomenon in Cambodia - its extent and nature, its determinants, and its consequences on health and education. The report also addresses the national response to child labor and policy options for its elimination. It serves three related objectives: (1) to improve the information base on child labor in order to inform policy and program design; (2) to promote policy dialogue on child labor and accelerated progress towards national child labor reduction targets; and (3) to build national capacity for regular child labor data collection and analysis. Building on the information presented in this report, a further study is expected to provide a detailed mapping of current assistance in the area of child labor, and project the likely impact of this assistance on child labor reduction. On this basis, areas requiring accelerated efforts will be identified and resource requirements calculated for achieving the national child labor reduction targets.
