Summary: This summary presents the major Romanian laws relating child rights in the context of abuse and sexual exploitation. There are two sources from which these rights may be ascertained: (1) federal legislation, and (2) international treaties.
Romania enacted the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990 via Law nr. 18/1990, which has been amended by Law nr. 272/2004. This most recent legislation forms the bulk of Romania's protections for children and enactments of the provisions of the Convention.
