Children's Ombudsperson

Belgium's Ombudsman functions as an independent mechanism for monitoring the Convention at the federal level. If the federal Ombudsman receives a complaint that does not fall within its jurisdiction, it will forward the complaint to the French Community's Delegate General for Children's Rights or to the Flemish Community's Commissioner for the Rights of the Child as appropriate.  In addressing concerns about the different remedies available in the Belgian Communities, Beligum is also in the process of reviewing a scheme to introduce an ombudsman service that covers the German-language Community.
