BANGLADESH: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in Bangladesh that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

The National Human Rights Commission was established in 2008, but the Committee on the Rights of the Child has expressed concern about the organisation's independence and capacity to serve the interests of children. Specifically, the Committee highlighted the absence of "independent, child specific and child sensitive procedures for individual complaints" and noted that as of 2009, there had been little progress made with regards to enacting the draft Children's Commissioner (Ombudsperson) Bill.
