BANGLADESH: Child journalist website launched

Shishu Prokash, a news agency consisting of child journalists, launched their own website this week during Bangladesh's '1st Child Journalist Convention 2009'.

The convention was organised by Mass-Line Media Centre (MMC) and partners.

MMC have trained 1,235 child journalists since 2005 under its Children's Express project.

Executive Director of MMC Kamrul Hassan Monju said, "These children have achieved the confidence of writing, speaking before people and asking questions to the authorities, which is a great success of this project."

Shishu Prokash produce bimonthly reports, all of which are published in local newspapers, while more than 500 have graced the pages of national newspapers.

Journalists work in groups of ten (five boys and five girls) with one team leader in each district. All 640 journalists and their 64 team leaders were present at the convention.
