BAHAMAS: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in the Bahamas that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

At the time of the 2005 Concluding Observations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, there was no independent monitoring mechanism mandated to receive and address complaints related to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Committee recommended that the State institute a body empowered to address complaints from children and provide remedies for rights violations in an expeditious and child-sensitive manner.
