SOS Children's Village is an independent social development organisation. It provides care for orphaned, abandoned and destitute children in family situation with motherly love and affection. SOS Children's Village takes full care and responsibilities for these children till they are integrated into society and can live independently on their own income. SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh is the member organisation of SOS-KINDERDORF INTERNATIONAL the largest private child welfare organisation working in 132 countries around the world. In the year 2002 SOS-KINDERDORF INTERNATIONAL received "Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize", the world's largest humanitarian award, for extraordinary contribution toward alleviating human suffering.
In Bangladesh, we started operation in Dhaka in 1972 and since then we have expanded our activities from here to five other divisional cities in Bangladesh located in Rajshahi, Khulna, Bagherhat, Chittagong and Bogra which are presently home for about 1000 children and youngsters. Apart from these, SOS Children's Villages in Bangladesh also operate a variety of educational, social and medical programmes for the local community people.
