Rescue Dada Centre

Rescue Dada Centre aims to reduce the number of street children within Nairobi, with a specific focus on street girls, by empowering them to live a life away from the streets where their rights are fully realized. This will be through a programme of rehabilitation and reintegration for street girls, and through family empowerment activities that increase the livelihood security of very economically vulnerable families. For 20 years, Rescue Dada Centre (meaning 'Girl Child' Rescue Centre in Kiswahili) has been supporting street girls to build a successful life away from the streets. Rather than providing long-term institutional care, we believe that children are best placed in a family setting and reunite street girls with their families, wherever possible. We work with the whole family to ensure each reunion is successful, providing counselling, life skills training, education and likelihoods support. Each year we rescue up to 70 girls aged 5-16 years from the streets of Nairobi, most of whom are reintegrated with members of their immediate or extended family within twelve months. We also provide vocational training to economically vulnerable mothers to prevent more children from entering the streets due to poverty.

Rescue Dada Centre is a Charitable Children's Institution (CCI), registered with the Kenyan Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development
