Prevention of violence against women and children through a holistic approach.Violence against children is a pervasive problem in Uganda, as in many countries in the world. A vast majority of children experience violence on a regular basis from adults they know in their communities, schools or at home. In response, Raising Voices launched a specific program in Uganda to prevent violence against children. This response is organised into three programs:
National Dialogue
Raising Voices’ children’s Department undertook formative research that informed a lot about the nature and the extent of the problem of violence against children, Subsequently, the National Dialogue is largely informed by the key findings of the study.
Good School Program
Raising Voices works with schools and other stakeholders involved in education delivery to create examples and experience of Good Schools. It involves developing and sharing tools that will enable schools to replicate this model.
Activism
Raising Voices works with a wide range of stakeholders to develop strategic collaborations leading to local action to prevent violence against children.
