International Social Service Australia

ISS Australia works across the world with those in vulnerable situations who are separated by international borders, with a special emphasis on the rights of the child. Social work services are provided to those who have been separated from family members as a consequence of international movement caused by migration, divorce, asylum seeking, trafficking, parental abduction and other factors. This involves regularly working with and assisting some of Australia’s most vulnerable children and families.

Though an independent organisation in its own right, ISS Australia is a member of an international ISS network covering over 150 countries. Access to the extensive ISS network enables us to work effectively to support Australian families separated by international borders. ISS Australia works directly with family members in Australia while our network colleagues overseas assist family members living abroad. ISS Australia has extensive experience providing services from a distance and is thus well-placed to serve clients in regional and remote parts of Australia.

ISS Australia is a leader in its field. Our inter-country casework services include:

• A General Casework Service incorporating child welfare services, family counselling and mediation, family tracing and family reunification services

• An International Parental Child Abduction (IPCA) Service
