The Advocacy Project was created in the
summer of 1998 by a group of
individuals with a commitment to human
rights and an interest in information
technology. We wanted to make this
technology more accessible to advocates
who are campaigning for social justice,
particularly those at the community
level. We selected the campaign to
create an international criminal court
as a first test case.

Since then, the Advocacy Project has
evolved into an organization with a
solid track record and a willingness to
take on challenging assignments.

At the same time, the Project tries to
avoid the kind of bureaucracy that
weakens and diverts so many NGOs. We
are a "virtual organization." Only one
of the core jobs is full-time (a
writer). We rely on newcomers to help
us fulfill assignments.
