UNICEF: Office of Research's 'ResearchWatch'

With the aim of providing field staff and those working in development with access to  some of the best thinking on key issues affecting children, UNICEF's Office of Research launched ResearchWatch (RW) last year.

RW has three parts:

  • (i) Commentary – where the latest research/thinking in the chosen area is captured, and then analysed by an expert.

  • (ii) 'Look out for' - a leading researcher will discuss their latest/forthcoming research project.

  • (iii) 'The Debate' - a videoed, studio debate. Here we launch with: Nobel laureate  Professor James Heckman, editor in chief of The Lancet, Richard Horton,  and UNICEF’s Chief of ECD Dr Nurper Ulkuer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vhxDGC6_q64

RW brings some of the best thinkers to be table on children’s research. It does so in a digestible, stimulating and bite-size format.

Each issue is dedicated to a theme. So far, there have been six debates covered:

  1. Early Childhood Development
  2. Child Safety Online
  3. Health and Equity
  4. Averting Famine - Acting Early
  5. Post 2015: What Next?
  6. Will the be an AIDS-free generation?
  7. Climate Change heats up threats to children
