INDIA: Thousands of Girl Child Labourers Marched to Parliament

Summary: A delegation of girl child labourers from
different parts of India met a number of
political leaders to voice out their problems. A
memorandum to protect them from abuses ,
exploitations and to them give back their child
hood by ensuring quality education ,health
and overall development of all children was
presented to these leaders.

Mujhe Mera Bachpan Lautado – Thousands of Girl Child Labourers
Marched to Parliament – Met Loksabha Speaker ,Ministers, Leaders of
Political Parties.

A delegation of girl child labourers from different parts of India met
Loksabha Speaker, Ministers and the leaders of political parties to share
their sufferings and handed over memorandum to protect them from
abuses ,exploitations and give back their child hood by ensuring quality
education ,health and overall development of all children . Before meeting
the Leaders of the country, around one hundred twenty children from
different parts of the country gathered here at Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan,
New Delhi, discussed their problems, shared their dreams and
aspirations , came out with a charter of demand. The programme was
organized by Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL). Children further
nominated 25 representatives, who were among thousands of children
who participated in the march and presented a memorandum in the Prime
Minister’s office.

While meeting the child delegates, Mr.Somnath Chatterjee , Loksabha
Sabha Speaker mentioned that child labour is a national shame .
Mr.Sivraj Patil, Home Minister expressed his concern and assured the
children to implement different schemes and programmes to cover more
and more children .Child delegates also requested home minister to take
concrete steps to stop trafficking of children for labour and sexual
exploitation.

Sj. D.Raja- CPI – was sympathetic towards the issues of exploitation and
suffering of girl child labourers. And expressed grave concern on the
issue.Assured the his party would take all necessary steps for influencing
the Govt.to protect the rights of the girl children.
