Summary: Mumbai – Love Humanity International, a newly formed NGO headquartered in Mumbai, India, received its registration number as a Charitable Trust on August 16, 2005 and is preparing to roll out two new programs that address the issues of homelessness for children and how to raise children in a teaching, loving abuse-free manner. Prior to forming the organisation, one of the founders, Louise Anita Williams, reviewed extensive research and found in a study that there are 26 million orphans between the ages of 0-14 in India and that there are from 13 to 16 million orphans living on the streets to feed for themselves. In addition, it was discovered in a recent research study that 42.5% of children in India suffer from severe physical abuse and 49.1% of children suffer from severe psychological abuse. To address these two issues Love Humanity International (LHI) has developed two programmes. The first of which is a course entitled Responsible Childcare. The curriculum includes Common Sense Parenting developed by Girls and Boys Town in the United States, family planning and preventative healthcare with emphasis on HIV/AIDS prevention. It is the intention of LHI to train trainers and teachers in this course so it can be offered to the public-at-large for a minimal fee. The second programme is the creation of family-like homes for children who are without them. LHI intends to recruit and train married couples to be surrogate parent/teachers. Once trained, they will be matched with 6 children between the ages of birth and 10 years of age and become like a family. The family will then move into a home provided by LHI in a middle class neighborhood. The father will work at his profession and the mother will be a professional stay-at-home surrogate mother. A childcare assistant will be provided for during the day to aid with the rearing of the children. All the needs of the children such as food, clothing, healthcare and education is to be provided by LHI. The first family-like home will be started once FCRA approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs is granted to bring in funds already raised in the USA.
