HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL: UPR deadlines extended

[8 January 2008] - Following the joint NGO letter requesting an extension of the deadline for NGO written submission on the 16 countries to be reviewed during the 2nd session of the Universal Periodic Review, the following extensions to the original deadline have been accepted:

For the first six countries to be reviewed during the second session of the UPR WG (Gabon, Ghana, Peru, Guatemala, Benin, Republic of Korea), the deadline is extended to Friday 25 January 2008.

For the other ten countries to be reviewed during the second session of the UPR WG (Switzerland, Pakistan, Zambia, Japan, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, France, Tonga, Romania, Mali), the deadline is extended to Friday 8 February 2008.

The new deadlines will be corrected on the on line Information note for NGOs regarding the Universal Periodic Review mechanism (http://www2.ohchr.org/english/bodies/hrcouncil/upr/noteNGO_041007.htm).
