AZERBAIJAN: Educational Center for Youth (ECY) to implement "Children's Rights School" (16 November 2005)

Summary: Educational Center for Youth (ECY) has started implementing the "Children's Rights School" project thanks to the financial support of the USA Embassy since 15 of September 2005.

 

The main aim of this programme is to increase the role of children in the region and to develop civil society in order to contribute to the spread as well as the protection of children rights. IIt is hoped that an opportunity will be created to favour children's social growth, so that they can become good citizens.

As the first component of the programme "Childrens' Rights School" has started in Fizuli, the school has been provided with the necessary technical equipment and has already started to work.

At the moment in 23 villages of the Fizuli region, groups of voluntary trainers for the project have being created and these groups are participating in special trainings.

In the  months to come  it is intended to have mass seminars and meetings concerning children rights, to organise enlightenment actions. During the training, participants will be given information about children's rights, local and international legislation acts, the protection mechanisms of children, the appeal rules to courts and more.

Equally, in the next months, there will be educational enlightenment publications concerning children's rights with regards to  "Children's Rights School", the library concerning children's rights will be established and also  free legal advice regarding the subject will be given by experts of the Centre.
