Written contributions should be sent to the Secretariat of the OEIWG by email ([email protected]) by 22 June 2015. Further contributions will also be welcome no later than two weeks after the Session i.e. 24 July 2015. Such submissions should be received in one of the official UN languages and in MS Word document or compatible format. Please note that all submissions will be made available on the web page of the first session of the OEIWG. For environmental considerations, concise and electronic submissions are encouraged.
Background
The open-ended intergovernmental working group was established pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 26/9 on 26 June 2014 with the mandate to collect inputs, including written inputs, from States and relevant stakeholders on possible principles, scope and elements of such an international legally binding instrument and to submit a report on progress made to the Human Rights Council for consideration at its thirty-first session.
The Human Rights Council resolution 26/9 mandated the open-ended governmental working group on transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights to elaborate on an international legally binding instrument regulate, in international human rights law, the activities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises. The Human Rights Council also mandated the Working Group to be dedicated to conducting constructive deliberations on the content, scope, nature and form of the future international instrument.
