UN: Expert Consultation on Street Children

Summary: An expert meeting on children living and / or working on the street, organised by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), will take place in Geneva from 1 - 2 November.

Meeting Objective

The purpose of the meeting is to consult with different stakeholders in preparation for the OHCHR report to the Council on children living and/or working on the street. To that end, the meeting will explore a number of key themes, including:

  • Putting children at the center: main challenges for children in street situations
  • Framework of Child Protection Systems: Roles and responsibilities in the promotion and protection of children in street situations
  • Good practices and lessons learned to promote and protect the rights of children living and working on the streets
  • Collecting and using data to promote and protect the rights of the child
