Ukraine: Yalta Conference on Protecting Women and Children through Human Rights Instruments

Summary: The Yalta Conference is organised by the Council of Europe in the framework of the Joint Project with the European Union on strengthening and protecting women’s and children’s rights in Ukraine (TRES Project).

At this event Ukrainian politicians, administrators, law enforcement officials and NGOs will meet international experts, among them representatives of the Ombudspersons for Children Offices, to discuss measures to promote gender equality and children’s rights in line with the European Social Charter (revised) and other international standards.

Iryna Kruchec, First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Professor Andrzej Świątkowski, Vice-president and Professor Csilla Kollonay-Lehoczky, member of the European Committee of Social Rights will participate in this event.

This international conference will conduct a comparative analysis of the guarantees of children’s rights and gender equality in different European States to help Ukraine build a modern national policy aiming at overcoming the deficiency of gender sensitivity, observing women’s and children’s rights, and to encourage better implementation of the European Charter.
