SINGAPORE: Children and the law conference 2009

LAWASIA and the Law Society of Singapore are pleased to present the Children and the Law conference to be held in Singapore from 21-23 May.

This Conference aims to promote discussion on a wide range of contemporary issues involving children and the law in the Asia Pacific region and beyond. It follows on from the two earlier successful events held in 2003 and 2005. It brings together experienced family practitioners and academics specialising in the area of child law, as well as policy-makers who are in a position to shape policies pertaining to children and other professionals who work with children. As well as examining current issues of concern, the conference also seeks to encourage new ideas and promote exchange and sharing of information among practitioners of different jurisdictions.

Highlights include a keynote address by the Honourable Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong and a special plenary address by Somaly Mam.
