IX Cycle - Master of Advanced Studies in Children's Rights (MCR)
Applications for the upcoming cycle of the Master of Advanced Studies in Children's Rights (MCR) year 2019-2020 are now welcome.
The MCR, which started in 2003, is an interdisciplinary part-time postgraduate programme in children's rights for professionals offered by the University of Geneva’s Centre for Children’s Rights Studies.
Three basic features run throughout the MCR programme: the interdisciplinary character, the interplay between theory and practice and the international scope. The Programme exposes students to an enriching exchange among several scientific disciplines and offers insights on a variety of issues pertaining to children's human rights. The dialogue between these disciplines provides contrasting and complementary viewpoints.
In all teaching modules, leading international scholars as well as experts of international organizations intervene as lecturers or participants of workshops and roundtable sessions.
It is held over a two-year period and the cycle 2019-2020 will take place from February 2019 to November 2020 and its study programme includes the following themed modules:
Module 1: Children's rights and childhood studies
Module 2: International children’s rights law
Module 3: Child protection strategies and policies
Module 4: Children’s rights and criminal justice
Module 5: Child labour and education
Module 6: Children’s rights and migration
Module 7: Children’s rights policy implementation and monitoring
The MCR combines residential teaching and distance learning and privileges both an international and an interdisciplinary approach to the study of children’s rights.
