[WASHINGTON, D.C., 15 October 2010] – The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will hold its 140th session from 20 October – 5 November 2010 in Washington DC.

The Commission will hold hearings on issues of concern in the Americas on 25, 26, 28 and 29th of October. Find the full schedule of hearings here.

Children's rights hearings on the agenda include:

  • Children and women's rights in Ouanaminthe, Haiti
  • The abuse of children with disabilities in State facilities in the Americas
  • The situation of indigenous children in schools in the United States

Audio recordings of the hearings will be available on the Commission's website. Some of the sessions will be webcast live on the OAS website.

Anyone interested in attending the public hearings may do so, and no advance registration is required. Journalists do not need any special accreditation.
