EU - information management to strengthen advocacy of NGOs working for excluded children and youth (15-16 December 2005)

Summary: The conveyance of application-oriented knowledge for effective use of relevant EU-information sources, systems and techniques against the background of optimal management of communications to strengthen advocacy work and targeted campaigning of social NGOs working for excluded children and youth with the aim to empower the achievement of their organisational goals.

 

 Main objectives and capacity-building issues addressed in the seminar

1. Development of public relations and “marketing” strategies to fortify the position and repute of individual NGOs working for excluded children and youth with the aim of raising interest with potential allies and partners

2. Conveyance of a knowledge-based approach and methods of autonomous and efficient use of EU-information sources at the disposal of social NGOs

3. Acquiring knowledge with the organisation of strategic lobbying events such as press and media conferences to raise NGOs profile and strengthen their advocacy work

4. Encouragement of information exchanges, stimulation of dialogue and creation of synergies between different actors working for children and youth at risk (such as social NGOs working in the field and representatives from European Institutions)

5. Overview on methods and sources aiming at the acquirement of a knowledge-based approach with regard to EU-information management

6. Methods of EU-information management and dissemination to strengthen advocacy work at the example of a European umbrella organisation active in the fight against social exclusion

Participants Profile

The seminar addresses participants mainly from social NGOs from Europe and beyond working for children’s and youth protection with a particular interest in European information strategies.

Speakers Profile

All speakers will be communications experts, either direct representatives from European Institutions, NGOs concerned with issues of social exclusion and poverty or high-profile consultants with a special emphasise on social and humanitarian affairs.
