Making Egypt's Streets Safer for Everyone: Campaign Against Sexual Harassment

ECWR will hold two roundtable discussions to discuss a new sexual harassment law. Participants will discuss and study the drafts of a law submitted to Parliament by the National Council for Women, the Egyptian Center for Women's Rights, and the Member of Parliament, Khalid Qwata.  The discussions will focus on the potential effects of these laws and participants will discuss specific ways in which they can advocate for these laws on both a national and local level.  The goal is that these meetings will help ECWR make an effective proposal to Parliament when Parliament reconvenes in November.  The first meeting will take place on October 21st and will include lawyers, legal experts, and women’s rights NGOs. The second meeting will take place on October 27th and includes representatives from 50 NGOs from 15 governorates. This meeting will focus on ways in which participants can advocate for the laws in their local governorates.
