The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) has issued the Call for Nominations for the 2014 Larissa Award.
The 2014 Larissa Award will go to an initiative that focuses on “Child Deprivation and Vulnerability in Africa”. It will be awarded at a special ceremony to be held in Addis Ababa on 28th October 2014, which will be a complementary event to the Sixth International Policy Conference on the African Child.

This is the fifth time ACPF is organising this Award opportunity. The First Larissa Award was presented in 2005 to the “Centre L’Espoir d’Adjouffou” (from Côte d’Ivoire) for its formidable commitment to helping the excluded and marginalised, including HIV positive children. The winner of the second Larissa Award in 2007 was the “Kembatta Women’s Self-help Center” (from Ethiopia) in recognition of their exceptional work in combating and preventing violence against children and women. In 2010, the Award was presented to “Katalemwa Cheshire Home” (from Uganda) for its impressive work in addressing the needs of children with disabilities in Africa. And lastly, in 2012, the fourth Larissa Award was won by the “Isibindi Initiative” (from South Africa) for its exceptional work in providing quality alternative care in Africa.
