BELGIUM: 2010 Interdisciplinary Course on Children’s Rights - Children’s Rights and Globalization. From Principles to Practice

The ICCR is a two-yearly training programme in children's rights.

 

 

The training course is an interdisciplinary and international programme which attracts a diverse range of participants from all over the world. It will be led by key experts in the field. The focus throughout will be both theoretical and applied.

Contents
After a multidisciplinary introduction to children’s rights, with a particular focus on the CRC, implementation strategies and methodologies will be explored. Five broad themes will be addressed from a children’s rights perspective: poverty, child labour, armed conflict, migration and the environment. One day will also be dedicated to children’s rights education.

Participants
The course is designed to benefit professionals from non-governmental organisations, national human rights institutions, government, international governmental organisations, field operations, and interested academics and PhD students.

Course convenors

The course has been jointly organised by the Department of Social Welfare Studies (Ghent University), the Faculty of Social Work and Welfare Studies (University College Ghent), the UNICEF Chair in Children's Rights (Faculty of Law, University of Antwerp) and the Leuven Institute of Criminology/Institute of Social Law (K.U.Leuven), in cooperation with the recently established Children’s Rights Knowledge Centre (KeKi). This interdisciplinary and inter-university Centre also involves the Free University of Brussels.
