Papua New Guinea

Located in the south-western Pacific Ocean, the island of Papua New Guinea is one of the world's most culturally diverse countries, with more than 800 native languages. The country gained its independence from Australia in 1975, but has since struggled with revolts, political instability and frequent collapses of government. Human rights violations relating to children include police violence, domestic and sexual violence, and child abuse and neglect.
