MAS in Childrens Rights Module 4 on Child Labour and Education

Summary: MCR module 4 on child labour and education:
module 4 of the MCR presents the debate on working children, child labour and international child labour norms and practices from an interdisciplinary and an international viewpoint.

The module also discusses the rights of children to, within and through education. The main geographic areas of focus are: India and Africa.

A particular attention will also be paid to the movements of working children and adolescents.

Within the framework of the Master of Advanced Studies in Children’s Rights (MCR), a two year post-graduate training programme on children’s rights, organised conjointly by the Institut Universitaire Kurt Bösch (IUKB), in Sion (Switzerland) and the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), we are accepting auditors to participate at one or several modules of the programme from module 2 to module 6.

Each module of the MAS in Children's Rights considers a specific theme.

Those accessible to the auditors address the following subjects: (2 – May 2013) Childhood studies and Childhood research methodology, (3 – September 2013) Children's rights and international law, (4 – December 2013) Child labour and education, (5 – March 2014) Children in contact with the law, (6 – June 2014) Children's rights in the context of health and in relation to migration.

The modules take place in Switzerland, alternately at the University of Fribourg and at IUKB in Sion/Bramois.  Supplementary information on the whole programme is also available on the website's programme www.iukb.ch/mcr.

The MCR Module 4 on ‘Child labour and education will be held at the University of Fribourb (Switzerland) from 2 to 6 December 2013. Via lectures and discussion groups, the debate on working children, child labour and international child labour norms and practices will be presented from an interdisciplinary and an international viewpoint. The module will also discuss the rights of children to, within and through education.
