INTER-AMERICAN COMMISSION: Session 153

Children's rights are set to be on the agenda in a number of discussions scheduled to take place during the 153th session of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

Hearings are scheduled for the following dates: 27, 28, 30 and 31 October.

The following hearings focus explicitly on children, but others are likely to also include children's rights on their agenda:

Monday, 27 October:

  • Human Rights Situation of Migrant and Refugee Children and Families in the United States
    Petitioners include: National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) / American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) / University of Texas School of Law Immigration Clinic / Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL)

Thursday, 30 October:

  • Situation of Human Rights of Migrant Children, Families and Refugees in the Americas
    Petitioners include: Casa Alianza Honduras / Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) / Red de Casas YMCA de Menores Migrantes del norte de México / Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean - Save the Children
  • Human Rights Situation of Children and Adolescents in Bajo Aguán, Honduras
    Petitioners include: Coordinadora de Instituciones Privadas Pro las Niñas, Niños, Adolescentes, Jóvenes y sus Derechos (COIPRODEN) / Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL)
