Human Rights Council special session on situation of human rights in Darfur

The Human Rights Council will hold its fourth special session on Tuesday, 12th December on the situation of human rights in Darfur. The special session is being convened following a request by the Ambassador of Finland and has been signed by 33 Member States.

Please note that NGO written statements to the 4th Special session should be submitted preferably by Thursday, 7th December 2006, 3pm. The Secretariat will not be able to ensure the timely circulation of written statements late in submission.

The statements should be submitted electronically to [email protected]. Kindly refer to the guidelines for the technical submission of NGO written statements.

An organisational meeting on preparation for the 4th Special session of the Human Rights Council will be held on Thursday, 7th December 2006 from 5-6pm in PNXVI.

Note: During the organizational meeting on preparation for the 4th special session of the HRC held this afternoon, the President of the HRC asked all stakeholders, for time management planning only, to inform the Secretariat of their intention to take the floor at the 4th special session of the HRC ahead of the session. To that effect, NGOs who intend to make an oral statement at the upcoming 4th special session are kindly asked to inform the NGO liaison officer, Ms. Laura Dolci-Kanaan, accordingly, by Monday 11 December 2006 - 12:00pm (noon): [email protected]
