The Forum was launched following the adoption of the Commission Communication Towards an EU strategy on the Rights of the Child in 2006. It is organised and chaired by the Commission and meets annually (apart from 2014) and brings together a wide range of stakeholders to exchange information and good practice on the rights of the child.
Forum participants include:
- EU countries' representatives;
- Ombudspersons for children;
- Representatives of EU institutions;
- the Council of Europe;
- International organisations;
- NGOs;
- Academics;
- Practitioners.
