2. About Free a Girl

Founded in 2008, Free a Girl is a Dutch child rights organization based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. As for 2014 we have provided grants to partners in India, Cambodia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Brazil, Moldova, the Netherlands, Cameroon and Thailand.

We aim to support local, national and regional organizations in the fight against the worst forms of abuse of children. We offer our partner organizations a no-nonsense approach with a clear focus on results and goals. Free a Girl is interested in cooperating  and providing support to  small and medium size organizations.

3. Principles

  • Girls are paramount; they are the project’s focus, so we find it important that their input is considered and that they provide their input to the project whenever possible.
  • Action-oriented; that is in our way of working, but also in those of partners.
  • Fair; in how we communicate and what we expect from partners, but also as a driver of the reasons why we do this work; we find it unfair and a human rights violation that girls are being exposed to exploitive situations.
  • Inquisitive; we want to continue to learn in order to improve effectiveness and the organization in general.
