127th regular session of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights

[WASHINGTON, D.C., USA] - The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will hold its 127th regular session from 26 February – 9 March 2007 in Washington, D.C, USA. During this time it will consider individual complaints, cases, precautionary measures as well as thematic and country reports on the situation of human rights.

Many of the hearings on thematic issues and the general situation of human rights concern children’s rights. Hearings which will focus on children’s rights include:

  • Brazil: Public policies on young people in conflict with the law
  • Honduras: Case 12.493 – Oscar Daniel Medina and José Luis Hernández, illegal detention, torture and execution.
  • Argentina: The rights of children in prison
  • Chile: Family violence
  • El Salvador: Public security policies and human rights in El Salvador
