Shafqat Hussain is expected to be hanged on Tuesday for an offence he 'confessed' to committing after nine days of torture.  

The Islamabad High Court has today said it will hear the first significant legal challenge to the execution of Shafqat Hussain who was convicted as a juvenile.

Pakistani government investigators have confiscated and tampered with evidence relating to the case of Shafqat Hussain, whose recent stay of execution is due to expire this week.

Following an outcry over the case of Shafqat Hussain, the President of Pakistan has announced the extension of the halt of his execution for 30 days.

After the first execution has been suspended due to internationl pressure, Shafqat Hussain has now been handed another execution warrent.

Muhammad Afzal, who spent 16 years in prison after receiveing his death sentence in 1999 by an anti-terrorism court, will be hanged on 05 March 2015. 

Shafqat Hussain is among a group of prisoners in Pakistan facing imminent execution.
