Peace has not Arrived for them: The plight of street children in Central America

Casa Alianza and CODEHUCA have just published an analysis on
the plight of Central American street children in the process of the
ending of violent revolutions and democracy building in the
region.

The book is entitled, "Peace has not arrived for them: The plight
of street children in Central America". The publication is available
only in Spanish.

There are close to 20,000 street children in the six countries that
compose Central America. They are homeless and abandoned.
The celebrated peace that is written on paper in countries that
were mired in decades of civil war, has not brought any seeming
benefit to these children.

The street children are still victims of violence by the authorities
who are supposed to be protecting them. More than 330 street
children and youth in Honduras have been murdered in the past
two and a half years. Sex tourism is another modern day plague
that victimises homeless children who have no parents to protect
them.

ISBN 9968-9834-8-9. The book was funded in past by HIVOS.
