Barnardo's summary of the publication
"Investing in early years works. It makes a difference to children
when they are young and when they are older This report helps
managers and practitioners argue the case for extra resources to
be given to early years work. It shows how early investment can
improve young children's quality of life , their educations
perfomance , vocational potential and social skills. Effective early
intervention also decreases the likelihood that children will
become involved in expensive and damaging anti-social
behaviour. The report describes Barnado's work with young
children and their families and contains extensive references to
the research underpinning this work. It is wide ranging and up to
date, providing statistics case studies and lobbying material in
the areas of poverty , family support , education violence withing
and to families and parenting education and support."
