over. There are four , three hour training sessions that will raise
awareness and understanding of the effects of domestic violence and
which can be used to enable young people to make changes in their
relationships with others"
Forward
but that's not love includes training materials for four three hour
sessions of activities and handouts that can be used or adapted to
begin or develop work on domestic violence with young people. In
particular , they can be used to:
raise awareness and understanding of the effects of domestic violence
on children and young people
enable them to confidently begin to make changes in their own
relationships with others
The sessions developed and piloted with young people's involvement
and participation. The young people particularly wanted others in
similar circumstances to benefit from their experiences.
The video complements the training sessions and areas covered in this
publication. It draws on young people's experiences and perceptions
of domestic violence . The children and young people were involved in
role play, acting, writing, designing and editing the content of the
video.

Target group
The training materials are intended to support the work of
professionals who work with mixed gender groups of young people aged
14 and over. The training sessions were piloted in a residential
setting and could also be used , for example, in schools, youth clubs
and family centres.
