Summary: This statement outlines the vision
and goals of the recently formed
Coalition Against the Trafficking of
Human Beings - AlbaniaTirana on 23 July 2001
STATEMENT
Believing in the values and principals of the civilized world for a
free individual and protected by any kind of violence or
exploitation
Taking into consideration the values of human beings for
prosperity and development
Knowing that the trafficking is an act that damages the freedom
and development of the human being
Knowing that this illegal act is carried out especially against
women and children
Taking into consideration the role of civil society and the values of
co-operation at local, regional and international level
Based on the good will to give our overall contribution, we
decided to join forces to fight against any kind of trafficking of
human beings by taking concrete measures in order to influence
the preparation of new laws, policies and strategies, at local,
regional and international level,
The below mentioned non-governmental organisations (in
alphabetical order):
1. Albanian Centre for Human Rights
2. Albanian Youth Council - YCA
3. Children’s Human Rights Centre of Albania – CRCA
4. Albanian Family Planning Association- FPA
5. Independent Forum of Albanian Women
6. Media Institute
7. Useful to Albanian Women
Today on 23rd of July 2001 decided to establish:
The Coalition Against the Trafficking of Human Beings (CATB)
MISION
The co-ordination and co-operation of actions and activities
against the trafficking of human beings, especially against women
and children.
GOALS
To influence for the preparation of new laws, policies and
strategies at Parliamentary level, Governmental level and civil
society;
To encourage the strengthening of local capacities in the fight
against the trafficking of human beings
To encourage the co-operation between local and international
partners, and between governmental and non-governmental
structures
To encourage local and regional initiatives.
