SCF and the Refugee Council have produced a new publication
'Refugee
Children in the Early Years: Issues for policy-makers and
providers' by
Jill Rutter and Tina Hyder.
'Refugee families often arrive in the UK traumatised and
disoriented,
haivng been forced by persecution to leave their own countries.
Good early
years provision is essential for refugee children, helping them and
their
carers to rebuild their lives.
The Refugee Council and Save the Children are publishing this
report to
help address the unequal access to early years provision among
refugees. It
is hoped that the report will be used by refugee community
groups to lobby
for better early years services and by local authorities to help pla
the
provision of such services. The report also highlights positive
practices
