Kopal: Counting on Female Foeticide and Birth Registration

An 18 months project (January 1st, 2004 through 30th June, 2005) was implemented in the 4 states (Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Bihar and Jharkhand) using an implementation model of a NGO network

 

 

 

The project goal was to eliminate the illegal practice of female foeticide in 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttaranchal,

 


Objectives

 

·         Raise societal awareness on female feticide as a social issue,

 

·         Form a media pressure group to sensitize them, and

 

·         Influence the state to ensure implementation of the PNDT act.
