GLOBAL: Because I am a Girl: The State of the World’s Girls 2009

Plan has launched its third ‘Because I am a Girl’ report which focuses on girls in the global economy. The report analyses the important role that girls and young women play in economic growth, and highlights that it is only through realising and investing in girls’ economic potential that the Millennium Development Goals can be met. It also presents clear evidence which links a lack of investment in girls with a lack of economic growth, which is why investing in girls’ futures will ensure a more prosperous and equitable global society.
